Gülce Yelken
Biography
Gülce Yelken addresses concepts of time, continuity, and material transformation in her sculpture practice by working with permanent materials such as metal, marble, and concrete. Her productions make the tension between the temporary and the permanent visible through simple and strong forms.
The artist uses material not only as an aesthetic element but as a structure bearing the traces of time. Weight, balance, void, and surface relationships create both physical and conceptual depth in her sculptures. Each work is treated as an independent entity that establishes a direct relationship with space and transforms the area it occupies.
Yelken’s works establish a bond with the viewer through continuity, creating a silent but lasting effect with their time-resistant structures and intellectual backgrounds.
